(Best Buy Collector's Edition)
Make no mistake, I'm a Slash fan. The guy writes and plays music I like, and he has proven it in multiple bands. While I'm sure it's more the record company's decision than the band's, this is the third version of this release that I've purchased. There was the original, then the "deluxe" with two bonus tracks, and now the Best Buy Exclusive Collector's Edition with a bonus acoustic show and a live DVD. Seriously, is the industry hurting so bad that they have to fuck the hardcore fans into purchasing the same music three times? Apparently so.
Hard work and determination can always pay off, if there's talent to match it. That is clearly the case with Crucified Barbara. These classic rock ladies have worked tirelessly for over a decade; self financing their work, their tours, their promotion and their lives all the while growing stronger and stronger as a band over the years. With the release of their MIDNIGHT CHASE recording, the band finally gets rewarded for all their hard work. Now signed with metal powerhouse label Nuclear Blast, Crucified Barbara sees the opportunity staring them in the face, and there's no stopping them now from grabbing at metal's proverbial brass ring. PITRIFF caught up with Mia Coldheart of the band to talk about all the things going on with them - both past and present. Here's what Mia had to say!
There's always bands that everyone knows, and then there are bands and musicians that made an impact on you that weren't what any would call commercially gigantic. For me, vocalist Leather Leone has long been one of those musicians. While she never broke through like a contemporary like Doro Pesch did, her work was always as good (maybe better, to be honest) than the reigning queen of Metal's output was. Be it the work she did with Rude Girl, the critically acclaimed recordings as the frontwoman of Chastain, or even solo, Leather Leone was almost never considered as a "female metal singer". Instead, her grit and integrity always left her known as simply a "metal singer".
Pitriff friend Bob Nalbandian sat down recently with the legendary Michael Schenker. Check out the interview here!
Michael Schenker was talking to Bob Nalbandian in support of his latest album, TEMPLE OF ROCK, which is available now at most major outlets.
